Nope.. I will be happy with the stock power. it's a Jeep and tow rig.
While reading through your thread I noticed this post. I also would be happy with stock power, but I could not help but daydream about more power. I had a brief idea of building a QT Cherokee into a classic version of a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. I noticed that my 78 Cherokee, as equipped, weighs in at about 900 pounds less than a brand new Trackhawk. It would be fun to have an old Cherokee stomp the shiny new toys that Jeep puts out today. Especially since people think older vehicles are too heavy. I decided that my 40+-year-old QT would not be able to handle the 700 hp that would be required.
My carcaine addiction wasted my life but it is a life well wasted.
My last big issue is packaging some sort of brake system in this space. There is not enough room to the valve cover, not even close for a 7" booster.

I was figuring hydraboost.. BUT - it seems all the systems have the accumulator on the INBOARD side. Well, that's where I need the space. Uh oh...
So I found some bell crank units that offset the vacuum booster to the outside... that might work?
Are our Jeep brakes based on a GM system? I think so.
Trying to figure out bolt mounting patterns and the like has not been easy.
THEN - I found a hydraboost system made by CPP. It has the accumulator on the outside... Even then it's going to be close, and I'll have to relocate the oil dipstick it looks like.
It includes a master cylinder and an adjustable prop valve attached below the booster. I was going to move the original prop valve anyway, so this might be a good choice.
Excited, but can't find much in the way of info on the mounting dimensions... That's very disappointing.
So - after 2 weeks of thought.. I ordered it from Summit tonight. I am pretty sure it is based on GM stuff.
So again, does anybody know if our brakes are GM based?
Can't answer the GM question but I read you could run the HB upside down putting the accumulator high on the other side. I was going to do it until I decided to go to a hydraulic clutch. It would've interfered with the clutch master.
This was to get it away from the turbocharger. It didn't touch since I had already moved the M/C to the other side of the brake pedal but I wanted it away from the heat.

I run mine upside down Jim. It's an Astro Van booster with the bracket to fit our rigs. That said, my pedal is so high, my knee hits the steering wheel sometimes.

So... that bolted right up to the SJ adaptor bracket? I may have to investigate that set up as a cost savings idea.
As for pedal height.. you can get adjustable rods and set the height.
Well, I've been avoiding this task... I have to rework and get my vents working. Figured since the emergency brake cable is already off, now is the time to do it. So off it comes.
Now, I have already cleaned out the vent area.. or so I thought. NOPE. When I pulled the vent assembly out, it was still full of leaves. Dang. A couple sessions with the shop vac got it cleaned out. Or so I thought.
After vent was removed driver side...

Then I put my hand down into the black hole.. and felt some more stuff . . . Pulled out this …. wth.

This had trapped some debris at the bottom. once I got this out, it was cleaned fully. got the driver side working great..
Pass side? not so much. Got it all cleaned up.. but found out the cable is broken. I don't see parts for sale anywhere. So JB weld tomorrow I guess.
The plastic chrome is pretty shot as well.... Any suggestions for replacement parts folks?

I bought mine from Elliot on this forum but he also sells on Ebay.
This is a new (not rebuilt) hydroboost and mount set up for a '74-'91 Full Size Jeep Wagoneer/Cherokee/J10/J20. It will bolt straight to the aluminum booster block mounting bolt holes on your firewall if you have on the Full Size Jeep.
You're right. I forgot that rod is adjustable. Gonna have to give it a try if there's any room left to adjust.

Oh! And if you do buy from Elliot, tell him you want it flipped over and I believe I might have bought the spitter fitting from him. You might ask but if he doesn't have it....

Got the trans cover cut out for the CJ shift rod. I made a cardboard templet located off 2 of the mounting holes to get started... Then tweaked from there. Plan to cover this hole with a CJ T-case boot. I will also add a water deflector below the floor to help keep water away from the hole in the floor.
Note, marked all shift locations after cutting the hole. Left some extra room for engine bounce and roll.

This clears the seat and the glove box when opened in all positions... floors are gonna need some POR ! { later }

Also, good news.. the ECU and wiring shipped out Friday. One step closer . . .

I saw you were looking for a Hydroboost for your brakes with the cannister facing the fender. Talked to Elliott and his fit either way. You should touch base, I used his system and he is really knowledgeable. always gets back to you within a couple hours.
