Need a fellow FSJ'er in Montana!

Hey I'm looking at a rig in Billings, MT and am looking to see if there is anyone in here who would be able to give it a once over. Obviously I would throw ya some gas money for the inconvenience. Waiting to hear back on some additional details tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

Gas money.... sure, I am in Cal

beside the gas money, ask as many picts as possible from the vendor... especially the windshield area A pillars and the rear quarter panel wheel wells. A video of cranking and starting... but honestly... this is not a good idea...

you may be able to hire an inspector to do this, find a classic car company in Montana or contact Hagerty or just buy a plane ticket and check yourself.

Oh of course I was going to do that anyway. Figured I could save some coin though if there was someone in the area who could run by and give me an easy yea or nea before I hire out.

Snows there right? Expect rust under the carpet.

I live in Billings, I could take a look at the vehicle. PM me with details.

I have a Jeep J10 so I have some idea what to look for on it.

Thanks again Atlasts! Deal ended up working out and the truck has a new home in FL. Even with shipping it was more solid and a better deal than local trucks I've found. The FSJ community remains strong here!

                  Copied my post from fsjn:

Been on the hunt for a Cherokee for a few weeks and scored this hoopty on FB Market. Was really wanting a Laredo to match my J10, but for a grand I couldn't pass this up. It appears to be a base model, and the engine is smoking really bad. Good thing is I have three 258's in my garage needing homes. Looks like a 258/727/229 combo. Correct me if I'm wrong. I took a picture of the 4x4 shift lever.

It's high mileage, but aside from the smoking engine, the transmission and transfer case work fine, and there is almost no body rot (just two small spots behind the rear wheels). Plans are to swap out the engine, fix the rot (and front floor pans, but that's easy), and try to get a respray on it close to original color.

Anything else I need to look for or keep an eye on during my refresh? The PO said the rear window works (shocked), however since I'm parking it outside for the time being I haven't tried to mess with it at all.

                  Pics:

Yeah I was amazed. I looked at probably 10 trucks and each one had either a bad dash pad or sagging/no headliner.
