The Old Girl is coming along..

Fitted the front clip parts for the first time. I think it looks pretty mean. Some trimming is certainly needed when mating M715 fenders to other civi parts but nothing major. Those are 30x9.50s on the front, and man they look tiny. Planned is 33x12.50s on a chero WT front diff. Should fill it out a wee bit better. What I *want* to do is put the HD44 8lug front I have and a matching 4.10 geared D60 in the rear, and run 35s but not there yet monetarily wise.

The truck is sporting a one off Tadworks 2" steel body lift. The frame and drivetrain is 68 J3000, cab and thriftside bed (not shown) are 65 J300 vintage, rear diff is a truck D44 with 3.54s. Looking at slapping a fron 70s Wt chero d44 to get it on the road, and 3/4 ton conversion maybe someday in the future unless I do that with my 78 J10 shorty. (edit: truck now has 1975 HD44 front and 1973ish Jeep Dana 60 rear, 4.10s, 3/4 ton)

This will be getting a M715 front brushguard I have, rhino conversion, and hopefully some sorta decent front frame bumper (3 piece wont look right with the body lift and doesnt protect much..)

Crom's M715 fenders were so bad it took 3 of us to get them to line up. Craigs dad and I lifted up and pushed in while Craig got the bolts started. That is when we decided next time would just sawzal the stock fenders and make our flairs

yeah I tried doing that alone and it was a no go. I had to trim about 2" of the inner fender flare from the top down to the cab corner and they go on..also a small notch for the fender flare in the front support and the lips on the corners of the air intake areas have to hammered flat..pretty much popped on after that. You can see the front bracket doesnt line up at all, I guess M715 have different lips maybe at the bumper. But its gettin there

Lol most of that is the rear harness! I bought 25' of trailer wiring to redo it.

MIB: ETA...optimally by spring. Realistically by July. Besides body stuff which is no big deal, I have too:
1: wire it. Won't be too bad
2: plumb it. Gas will be a snap. Got a nice Holley Red Top, just need hose and filters
3: brakelines. Sorta scary on that. But I hypothetically have enough old ones here to get it working. At least I'll get the handbrake set up first.
4: rebuild the rear drums. Not excited about that.
5: windshield and interior, plop the thriftside bed on it, etc etc.
6: little spot weld on the clutch linkage and that should be good to go
7: top off the fluids and see what explodes a mile down the road
8: I could drive it in 2WD as it is with mismatched diffs, of course the big $$ and effort will be setting up a proper matched front end. Lacking welding skills means that has to be jobbed out. Have some local options on that.

I wish I had the time and $$ to do a 100% resto/build on it, it sure deserves it. But its just a truck..

Yeah good luck on yours! LWB Thriftys are the rare ones I plan on lining the inside of mine with 3/4" plywood and watersealing it. The metal is like tinfoil Got enough paint on it so not worried about rot for the forseable future, although its pretty dry here..

Hmm I don't have access to a heavy duty 44 but I do know where there is one with 4.10 gears in it with a passenger side drop. Then all you would need is the outers to make it an 8 lug.

For less than $500 you can have 4 37" tires on humvee beadlocks from that 406YJ guy on pirate. He was great to deal with.
