    shiny stuff

where do you get that shiny insulation that you have on the floor and firewall? does it have a name besides "shiny installation"? good luck with the build, the truck looks great and its my dream set up.

      shiny insulation

The insulation is for air conditioning ducts. You can even get some that has adhesive backing and just cut, peel, and apply. 10-15 dollars per roll is better than dynomat prices!!!

That is one of the most beautiful, drop dead gorgeous trucks I've seen. Thanks for letting me drool and keep the pic's and updates coming.

In all fairness.....my truck looked rougher than Mikels when I got it. 3 gallons of bondo, who knows how much fiberglass, 2 gallons of primer, 3 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear, and 4 months later I had a good platform to start with.

I polished a turd of a body the best I could. There were rust gaps in the bedsides I could put my whole hand in. Believe it or not I am jealous of most everyone elses truck because they are a better platform. Underneath all the makeup mine is ugly.

Thats why we do this. Its fun and rewarding when its done!

You have a beautiful and very well thought out truck, VERY similar to what I'm doing (less lift, VE pump and D70 for mine). I can't wait to see your truck running.

                    update

Well here is an udate for those following. I got a stub shaft made to go between the D300 and NP205. Also is the bling for the truck. I found a way to have braided stainless hydraulic clutch lines made. I think it looks infinately better than the plastic line I was going to use.

I like your stub shaft. Most people use non-telescopic shafts and I'm a believer that no matter how well you align the trans/TC, as things shift, the bearings in the two inputs/outputs are going to suffer.

I'm dropping the 4BT/NV4500 in the J300 this weekend

Mikel. I too am a believer that NOTHING in the driveline will stay stationary, inline, whatever under load.......especially 425 ft lbs of torque at 1500 rpm. Bearing would suffer greatly. Hope the transplant goes well for you this weekend.

As for the stainless hydraulic line. I found a shop that will take a fitting and put in in another fitting and marry it in a braided line. They do straight and ninety degree fittings. Never seen one on a rig so I thought Id give it a try.

Axle ratios are 4.10. At 70 MPH and .76 OD, that puts my rpms at about 2050. I have some 36s to go on soon. I think that knoks down to 2010 to 1950 er rpm calculator.

they love 1700-1900 rpm window over 2k they suck fuel much more. like 4-6 mpg difference. gear appropriately. 4.10s with 35's should be a good combo. check the size of your turbo exhasut housing they pickup a little bit when you swap on a hy35/ 9cm. i had one running a hx35/12 with a WG and when we swapped on the hy35/9cm it was quit snappier especially with a little extra fuel added.

                                good luck
