    Jeep XJ group?

Just bought an 86 XJ today and it's a total beater.

I need it to last for two months before sell it. There are some issues that I'd like to get some feedback on prior to jumpig in.

Anyone know of an XJ forum?

    Thanks!

X2 on jeepforum. Cherokeefoum.com is another good one.

NAXJA is good but they're pretty flame happy over there.

            It's a V6...

Drives pretty good, but the idle seems to have a horrific misfire... haven't even tried diagnosing it. Not many places to work on a car while in maui... currently living where there's an association. Wish I knew someone out here with a yard...

I've been meaning to check vacum lines to verify that, but no time.

            Did a seafoam, no help.

The smell of unburned fuel is quite bad and I'm hoping it's not mechanical... Good news is that I bought it for $1,500 while a rental was going to cost me $2,500. :P

So far, it's paid it self half way... now if I can keep it going and dump it for $1,500 I will have paid nothing for car!

I'll check out the references above... thanks guys!

This is unrelated, but are you from Newport Beach in southern California?

[email protected] (John Meister's old group) I'm on there, Comanche Club (rarely this year though) Jeep Forum, Jeepz.net, Eaglenest, AMC Forum, AMC-list, Renixpower (XJ's early EFI system), strokers and for the turd point hate Vee sicks, may I suggest a Chevy S10 group. Most often a miss in those is a rod gone or major intake vacuum leak)

I'd pay $1500 not to own an early V6 XJ.

If you swap them for an '87 or newer from an S10 or Camaro then they are fine

Miraphone186, yeah, i'm from newport. Ever see me driving around? I kind of stick out. :P

here's the deal... it was a disconnected vacuum line. Pulled off on a side road in kaanapali and lifted the hood... spent about five minutes looking everything over and then... WHAM! Vacuum line sitting there.

Runs quite well now... Will be able to sell for the same price I bought it for now. stoked!
