    FIREWALL INSULATION1976 J-10

the shop who is taking the 76 j10 apart

just called to say I need firewall insulation.

    in all other restoration,....

I have used dynamats "dynaliner" foam on floor

after applying the heavy foil/tar NOICO stuff on metal floor first

    for vibration dampening.

    will this be fine,

or do I need something else for further up firewall ?

( I think what I have used is far better than OEM firewall material, of shredded material and black cardboard )

    any advise ?

Kaiserjeeps is making firewall pads. Search his build thread.

I covered mine with foam and MLV. Gotta put up the pics of the vinyl.

I don't now if my pre 1971 Kaiser era parts will work on something as new as 76. I don't really have any way to tell short of having the old part, or a picture of it. I know we talked about this Dave. But I thought I would respond anyway. Is there any way to lay the old one out on the floor and snap a photo? When Todd the welder posted a picture of his 80's pad, I saw it was a completely different piece than what I make. It would be nice to know what years the earlier Kaiser pads will fit. I just don't know. ....yet.

LOL I had originally bought this for my 76 Waggy, but since my Waggy is not ready for it I used it on my XJ.

The silver side is what gets glued down to the metal.
This stuff was kinda pricey over at Sumitt, but not as bad as the liner materials.
I reworked the interior of my XJ, and the upholstery supplier I was going to sold this product only quite a bit thicker, and less expensive.

Super happy with this kinda stuff. I used it on the firewall, and floors, then use fatmat on the roof, sides, and cargo area.
(Ristow)fram!....that deserves a ratchet upside the head.
