I personally think the prime time to be in Ouray is the last week of August and first week in September but that is not good timing for a lot of people. The flowers are pretty well spent by then but the passes and basins are open and monsoons are usually done by then.
Personally, I think the FJ folk were pretty nice people for the most part.
I talked with a few, most were, well, just folks like us.
Probably no more or less mature than the FSJ group overall.
Both groups have their good/bad sides.

If this needs to be moved into late August, that's fine.
There could easily be two FSJ groups there at two different times.
No rules to follow, I doubt it would be a point of contention.
            At least I hope not.

KOA Reservations: Dave agrees to place holds on the sites and each party reserves them to their liking. So we had Dave hold 45-52 for us. I recommend when you call, ask for Dave specifically. Some of the other help lacks ability to be truely helpful. If Dave is not available, ask for Deb. They are the owners. I am not sure why there is confusion on this but they are the right people to talk to and do tell them it is the FULL SIZE JEEP group. To say it is the FSJ group could easily be confused with the FJ group.

FJ people: I do not have any particular problems with the FJ group as people are concerned. Did not mean to imply anything like that either. I did not see even any derogatory remarks in the snow about FSJers while on the trails. They actually had around 350 FJs in town that week based on what Casey's friend told him. What I am trying to avoid is FJ traffic on the trails. We saw a BUNCH of them in Lake City on our Animas Loop drive Friday so missed most of them on the trail fortunately. Saturday was another story and we met 3 different groups before we got to California Gulch via Corkscrew Gulch and Hurricane Pass.

I for one, cannot go later than what 2009's weekend is as Emily starts school the week we get back. IE, she started yesterday, so last week would have worked. It's tough to come back and start school the next day.
I do not think there are enough of us to do 2 different times.
I don't think I even came across an FJ on the trails this year, but changing the date so the trails are less crowded makes sense.
As far as the rain, hey it's the weather, it's the mountain's, it's summer, that's what happens. It's a small matter.

BRUTUS who? - OK just kidding Jason. I hope you can make it!

All - We would not push the Invasion dates back any further without a open query and poll from folks who have been or are planning to go. I figured this change would press some to meet school schedules. Thanks for not yelling at me.

As for the dates, we don't have anything else going on (as far as we know) so they're fine, though we are a little disappointed it doesn't fall on our anniversary again next year! FJ people weren't really a big problem, we didn't see many of them on the trails (maybe they have the sense to get on and off before the afternoon monsoons ) and what would we do without them to hassle?? Man Kenny, it's too bad you weren't driving an FJ that day of the gas incident, they'd have never found you! I can just hear it now "Yes officer it was a new, shiny, blue FJ. It had a snorkel and a bunch of stickers. It didn't have a front license plate."
