    Not a happy Jeep day

Anyone ever had their catalytic converter, radiator, and alternator all fail on the same day? Well, after many years of relatively trouble-free FSJeeping, that's what happened to my '88 last Saturday! I was pulling out of my driveway and heard a rattle in my exhaust. Got under the truck and the cat was rattling and buzzing. Major bummer because I just swapped this cat a week ago in preparation for my upcoming smog check...

Well I was running late and didn't have any other vehicle I could drive (my other truck has transmission problems at the moment ). Got to where I was going and notice that my 5-year old brass/copper radiator from BJs offroad is dripping on the ground... Pinhole leak in the bottom corner.

Well the leak wasn't too bad and it was running normal temps so later that night I topped of the radiator and drove home. On the drive home, my lights suddenly went dim and i look down at my voltage gauge and I'm in the red. I barely made it home on battery power...

All in all not the finest day for my Jeep or my wallet.

      dang !

That is a lot for one day.

...at least they did not leave you stranded.

sounds like you have that eagle eye one must have
      when driving older vehicles,....

eyes on gauges and eyes on ground when you enter/exit the vehicle,...
      looking for gremlins !

      good eye.

Worst I've had was the starter and fuel pump in the same day.

Yeah, honestly I had to laugh at how ridiculous the whole thing was. I'm definately hyper-aware of everything when I'm driving any vehicle, especially older ones. I'm so OCD I can't help it.

In six years and 22,000 miles of owning my Grand Wagoneer it's had it's share of minor issues (mostly pre-existing things I've slowly fixed from when I bought it) but has never once left me stranded!

That's a bummer of a day, but the bright side is that you got to give some love to three big systems for the Jeep...and I'm sure it'll appreciate it.

You made it to work, and you made it home without a tow. You won that day.

You made it home, you saw the issue before it ruined anything, you knew what to do to get you home ...
