    J truck parking brake question

Hi All, Why does the parking brake hold great when facing downhill, but is pathetic when facing uphill? Something with the geometry of the turning drum and the shoes I guess. Is there a fix? I tried adjusting it up till it bit good, but then the brakes would drag and heat up while driving!
    Thanks, Chris

Are the shoes on correct? Are the adjusters backwards? are the drums worn out? Are the shoes adjusted to fit the drums? Are your park brake cables worn/stretched out? Lots of question you need to check off.
