Anybody upgraded the exhaust for their 327?

I need to run new exhaust in my truck and I'm looking at one of the do-it-yourself kits from Summit. I want to run duals to a 2 in/2 out single muffler (thinking this would save on space). I'm wondering whether to go with 2.25 or 2.5? I should think that 2.25 duals would be fine for the low revving 327, but 2.5 might wake it up a bit. I'll be running a Rambler 4barrel intake and Holley TA470. Any thoughts?

I recommend finding a Rambler left hand exhaust manifold to get rid of the front crossover pipe. Jeep used the right side manifold on the left to avoid a tight spot around the clutch linkage. Even 2" pipes will wake the 327 up compared to the stock exhaust design.

I've wanted to get my hands on a Rambler manifold for the same reason. Haven't found one yet. I mentioned this in another thread a long time ago and was warned that it likely would not clear the clutch linkage. I'm still lookin for a manifold I can try out though. Thanks for the input

I've got the Rambler manifold, but I haven't got to the exhaust stage of things. It definitely looks tight though. It should be do-able.

Are you planning to run the Rambler manifold? I jumped on ebay this morning found only one listed with a buy now price $70+, which seems high for a "might work" scenario in my case. I'd like to make the switch, I think I would be much happier with it than running the pipe in front of the motor again.

Interested in what you find out. I'd love to run twin straight pipes out the rear of the engine Maybe toss in some sorta muffler, loud pipes DO get annoying, trust me.

My exhaust was full of holes and ran thru dual cherry bombs; rendered in-cab conversation or a stero pretty much useless I will definitely jump on a Rambler manifold if one pops up that I can afford. I have a little time to look as the motor still has to go in...

The exhaust manifolds only have a 2" outlet, so no matter what exhaust you oput on it, the manifold will probably be the restriction.

I see no reason for anything more than 2" pipe for duals. My 327 has 2.5" duals and it's overkill.

I wouldn't recommend a crossover pipe, the one in the intake manifold will suffice and you need some exhaust traveling through the intake to operate your choke.

I am planning to. I've had it on the truck, but with no exhaust behind it. I've kind of eyeballed the route, and I think it should be do-able.

I'll tell you what, it's very, very loud with just the manifolds.

Rambler left side manifold

Well, i made an offer of $25 on the manifold I found on ebay and it was accepted Never hurts to ask I guess. I'm excited to try this out
