    best looking tire size

I'm wanting to put a new set of tread on my 1970 J2000 in the near future. It is stock height and I don't really want to lift it. If you have pics or opinions please post them for me, appreciate it!

I'm looking at either 31 10.50-15 or 32 11.50 15 on my J10. I think the 11.50's would look better but they aren't going to drive as well and they're rock blast the rear flares worse.

How can you possibly get sexier than this?

I love the look of square-shouldered skinny bias-ply traction tires. I've had a set of nearly that same tread pattern on my Wagoneer for the last couple thousand miles.

If you get a set of tires like that, I promise you will get endless comments from people on how sexy and macho they look. Everywhere I go people love my tires, even little kids. I think it's because everybody thinks those tires drive like crap, so they have a lot of respect for somebody who actually "puts up with them". I don't understand why they think that, because to me these tires drive just fine.

I can tell you more about my experience on how they drive, but I don't want to hijack your thread unless invited to.

You can't, that look is perfect. That said it depends on how it's used, I put a lot of miles on Humpty so he gets 285/75/16s Michelins, Delta has 265/85/16s, fair amount of miles, Bufurd and Abner have 7.50/16s very similar to pic cause they're driven locally.. Tall and skinny is my like, my wish is for a 265/85/16 6 ply, they're hard/impossible to find in tread pattern of my liking.
          Current fleet
Abner-73 He started it all in 1979 (plow truck now)
Bufurd-69 Fixed up to take Abners place as DD

What are the 265/85's? Picher? Widest 85 I've found are 255.

            Wish they'd make a 275/85/16 AT.

I've got 73 J4000 back home that has the old style bias ply tires and I absolutely love the look and drive of them! But I've had trouble finding them and I plan on this truck being driven a lot more so I'm looking for something a little different. I've saw a couple pictures of these old j trucks with stock height and 33x12.50s and I think that looks great as well.

This is my truck back home

255/85-16 is a good option for 16" rims. That 85 aspect ratio is roughly what the old bias ply tires were.

Unfortunately the highest aspect ratio you can get on a 15" rim is 75. A 235/75-15 tire is 9" wide and yet the rims are only 6" wide; it doesn't work out well. I got all kinds of weird tire wear and vibration from that.

Switched to the factory size of H78-15 bias ply and fixed everything. No weird tire wear, and the ride on the highway is smooth as glass.

Also if you have manual steering, your steering effort will be greatly reduced with a narrow tire. I drove my friend's 1959 Edsel on radials and it would practically throw my back out trying to park it. Then he put the factory bias ply tires on it with a 5" wide tread and it was almost one-finger steering.
