You are correct and I realized this yesterday. Problem is, i never had the overhead lights. I will have to come up with an alternative for headliner support. I have ideas....

I'm calling this project DONE! I still need to install the front retainer trim and sun visors.

            Before.......what a mess

            After!

I had to fab up a aluminum cross member to support the front headliner.

Good job on the crossmember! Cool that you wrapped that too! Looks good.

You going to make another for the rear board? I think (not sure) the rear board is a little bigger, so it may be more susceptible of warping/sagging than the front.

I dig the LED bars. How did you wire them in? can you turn on one at a time or are they all wired up together?

They are all on one circuit. They illuminate when the doors open or with the headlight switch. There are two more LED strips below the dash.

The front headliner is the largest of the two. I may add support for the rear as well....just because.

Both aluminum cross members are finished and installed.

                              Front

Wouldn't you know it, AFTER I installed the panels, I found and salvaged the entire overhead lighting, cargo light switch, and all associated wiring. Maybe I'll take everything back down to install it.....maybe, maybe not.

Today, I installed a new fuel pump and a Power Steering pump. And gave it a wash.
