New glovebox liner; what did you use?

If you have replaced the cardboard liner to your glove box, what material did you successfully use? I plan on cutting a replacement material, scoring the folds, and stapling it together like the original. Thanks.

I think most folks just buy a new liner. BJs has them:

Rang-A-Stang -- Thanks for the suggestion and the link. I will consider that, but since I'm retired and have the time, I may just use something on hand and save $30-$37 bucks, ...haven't decided yet.

I make one out of sheet metal by unfolding the cardboard one and tracing and cutting it out. I used rivets to hold it together. Then i coated the back with duct tape to prevent any stray wires from shorting out. The metal box does not allow the factory glove box light to work, however the wiring from an additional ash tray light can be modified to work inside the glove box and tapped into the ash tray light wiring. Now I have a nice metal glovebox with a light that is always on when the lights are on, no fussy contact switch. Also the light is the nice blue-green color of the dash

I made mine out of 24ga metal and made it a little smaller at the
rear so I could slide it in front.

The BJs plastic is nice, but a real PITA to slide in, the cardboard is more forgiving.
After I needed to pull the radio another time, I slit the plastic along the top L and R sides to be able to fold the top horizontal plane of the plastic box... yes it is ghetto, but a little gaffer tape and it is fine.

Thanks for all the great ideas.

I decided to go with grey cardboard, or what a framing shop calls "mat board". I first tried black foam core from the local supermarket, but it was too thick and unforgiving for installation. After I took the photos I also replaced the flat metal nuts... the local hardware store had those.

I did not measure anything, I just used the old liner as a template. One thing that surprised me is that the box is not symmetrical. If I do it again, I think I will follow some of the above suggestions and try using metal.

Mine is terribly damaged (got wet i'm afraid, al mold inside)
I'm thinking about doing the BJ's plastic, but then finishing it more like a modern glovebox with Flock spray paint in black (https://www.flockit.com)
Should look great and reduce rattling of any glovebox content.
if it's meant to be, it will be..

Does BJs liner fit a 1991? It seems to be only up to 1986
