    New project '69 Gladiator J3000

It's great to finally be a member of this forum, and I am looking forward to your opinions and suggestions.

I am an avid Jeep fan, currently driving an 07 JK, and have had my mind set on rebuilding a Jeep for a long time. The initial idea of building a TJ was tossed as they are far too common now

I have always liked the Gladiator, but here in South Africa they are extremely rare. Last week I managed to find my first real project vehicle, a '69 Gladiator J3000, or at least half of it The bed looked like swiss cheese, so I left it where I found it.

I know this will not appeal to the purists, but this vehicle is way past the restore point. I will be getting it back on the road but with a few tweaks.

After a bit of research I decided to go for a 4.8L vortec V8 motor with a 4L60e transmission and NV231 T/C. I will also be doing a full long arm coil conversion on it.

I am a complete novice when it comes to rebuilding a vehicle but I do learn fast and appreciate all the input I can get.

    This is the starting point:

Great! We're looking forward to the project. Im surprised that you'll not go with a Diesel as there more available there.

Welcome to the land of empty pockets and unfinished projects...

Looks like you found a good one to start with. And 2 Rhino grills to boot. One for the truck and one for the shop wall....

Congrats. Cant wait to see where you take this.

                  Thanks guys,

The Rhino grill was an absolute must.

Only about 10% of the early Jeeps came over with right hand drive so I was very fortunate to find this one.

I'm not really a big fan of a diesel but I did consider it. I was looking at installing the new Toyota 3L DiD motor, but it would be hugely distasteful to put a Yota motor in a Jeep
