Back in the game with my new 89 Waggy

Dam back problems again. I've been down for the last month and a half. Got me some new injections yesterday, so I did a little on the Jeep today. Of course, after I rode my motorcycle some - just enough to really irritate the back again, but at least I got the overhead console disassembled and prepped for the new covering. Instead of using headliner material, I'm going back with cordovan vinyl to match the seats.






If I didn't mess my back up too much today, I hope to get it covered and reassembled. Then to recover the headliner. And maybe insulate the inside of the rig. That might be too much tho.

Started putting the woodgrain on today. I'm not happy with it. Going to look for another route.

Recovered the overhead console. Still gotta put the guts back in it.


I'm pretty happy with it. The color is almost a perfect match.

where did the woodgrain you did not like come from ?

I'm not happy with the way it turned out. No problems with the quality of the vinyl or the look of it, except that I think it looks a little too dark to be Marine Teak, but maybe that's just my eyes.

Today's progress.
Cleaned up the inside some. Getting ready for new interior.

Got the front part insulated. I'm waiting to finish up the back part until my new roof grommets come it. Don't want any leaks.

Got the rear air deflector installed. I'm short two grommets tho, so I'll finish it after they come in.

Recovered the headliners.

Added insulation to the backside of the headboards. It might make it too heavy tho. I'll have to wait and see after I get them reinstalled.

Refinished my interior trim. Perfect match on the color.

Had some left over woodgrain. I never liked the way they left these exposed. Covered over them and I think it turned out great.
