    flex track issues!

Well first I'd like to say I just bought an '83 Grand Wagoneer earlier today. My fiance' has always wanted one so I bought my uncle's that he used as a hunt club truck. I plan to start restoring it back to factory for her as a wedding present.

Ok so now to the issue at hand..The front driver's side window doesn't work. My uncle had taken it apart to replace the broken flex track but never got around to finishing the job. I got a flex track already but I can't figure out how to get it on the track correctly. the motor and track rail were already unbolted in the door..and I can slide the flex track onto the rail until it gets down to the motor. Once its to the motor, I bump the motor to get it to carry the flex track through it...but the gear keeps popping out of the motor and I can't keep good pressure on the gear to keep it on the shaft of the motor while I run the track through it because when I hit the window switch..the whole assembly moves in the door, and then the gear pops off and the 4 springs that are in it fall down into the bottom of the door.

I know theres a trick to this thing, but I just can't figure it out! 3 hours spent on it and then I broke the flex track on accident.

    Any insight or instruction?

Sounds like a screw or a cover is missing to keep the gear on the motor.

      Look at the other door.

I got it figured out..on my motor, there's 2 gears in it that attach to each other..and a shaft goes through the middle of both gears. The shaft doesn't have a clip or screw to hold the gears on, but when you bolt the motor back up to the plate, theres an indention in the plate for the shaft to go into..which secures the gears against the plate to stop them from coming out.

I just took both gears out and ran the flex track all the way on the rail, slide the gears back onto the shaft in the motor, and bolted the motor up. Thanks for the input every body.
