What gears with with 35" tires?

Using this calculator http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html I come up with 4.10 being the closest match to stock RPM at 65mph and 35's. I am on the fence with upgrading to 4.10 or 4.56 to get a little more power. I was wondering what you guys are running with your 35" tires and why?

50/50 offroad/highway. Nothing extreme offroad tho, maybe 5 to 8 rated trails.

This is a Waggy with 727/NP228

        4:10 are your best bet

with a 3 speed It's going to be a singing @ highway speeds tho 3:73 might be a better thought

3.73 would not be ideal for 35s since your stock gear ratio is probly 3.31 or 3.07 id go with the 4.56s

4.10's would put your RPMs pretty close to stock waggy with 3.31's. Just a hair higher on the freeway. Given the extra rolling resistance of bigger tires, that's probably about right if you're shooting for stock levels of performance.

I had 35s on my 75 Wag with 4.10s and it wasn't too bad for highway cruising and still did fine offroad.

I would only run 35s and 4.56s with OD.

                    4.10

The strongest combination is 4.10 if you change ratio its perfect time to install lockers, its the same amount of work

My 75 Wagoneer, I changed from 3.54 to 4.11 and installed ARB lockers, tires 36x14.5x15 perfect combination very capable offroad. Freeway performance was like stock, fuel consumption 16.2 MPG in 2WD in winter 9.2 MPG in 4WD
I did not renew the ball joints in the Dana 44 so I ripped off the right front wheel and right drive shaft....
I never replaced the right side broken drive shaft just used it as 3WD until I sold it, well this is about 19 years ago... (360/T18/Dana20)

Now lets see if history repeats its self with the Dana 60, 30 spline outer shafts...

I was gonna go 4.56 for 35s but found it was easier and cheaper to find axles with 4.10 and potentially a locker already installed then setting up axles from scratch with 4.56 gears.

I'm running my stock 3.31 gears with 35's on my 80 chero 4 speed. Does real well on gas. Cruises along not screaming at 55-70 MPH and I can still spin the tires.

i went with 4.56 in my truck with 35" tires.

My buddy Kevin went with 4.10 and wishes he had 4.56

it winds a little high at 85 mph but when wheel'n it is good to have the gears.

I went with 4:30's (split the diff between the 4:10 and 4:56). When I get it running good I will post, but around the neighborhood it runs much better than the old 2:89's did!
