    Hello from South Africa

Hi All, Yes there are some j series vehicles in South Africa. I have owned my 1972 J 2000 Gladiator since 1996 and it has undergone quite a few changes since then. Unfortunately i broke the rear end some 10 or 12 years ago and it stood outside under a tree since then. I am trying to convince myself to fix the glad again hence my browsing around and finding this forum. I hope i will be able to ask a few questions and hopefully receive some well informed answers. I am able to give some information (history) on J series in South Africa sould anyone be interested.

    Thanks
    Jakes

    Hi,
Sure i am interested by SA history for the j-trucks
I know that they began the assembly of jtrucks and wagoneers in the sixties , all with 6 cylinders engines, i think it was in Pretoria or the neighborhood ?
I don't know when the production was discontinued and i don't have production figures

    Was your J2000 assembled/built in SA ?
Do you have a SA ID plate with a specific number ?
    Thanks
    Guillaume

        Hi Guillaume,
Yes my J 2000 was assembled in SA by Preator Assemblers. Jeeps at the time,60's and 70's, were imported as knockdown kits and assembled locally. The plant later became a BMW manufacturing facility as it is today still.
        Regards

Good luck. Since Photobucket shut down I even have a hard time trying to post pictures.

I've noticed some threads come up about people having problems posting photo's to the site here. I have always found it pretty easy, but I figure I can show others (with pictures;) )how I do it, and maybe we can get some more pics of some kick ass Jeeps here! Generally, this process should work the same way from other 3rd party

how to post pics.Welcome to the forum. Great place to find out info for your FSJ.

I somehow feel a bit stupid about the pics. Why not just copy and paste?
