boy bodywork puts a bee up my mini-skirt...

    WoW !!!

I have always done half hearted bondo and primer jobs with a rattle can...but this time is my first attempt (practice) on a tailgate the way the pros do it

sand with 120, apply 2 coats of primer - let sit overnight, use "guidecoat" to find all the low spots - sand with 120 again...primer again....and again and again - yes i used some "glaze" to fill the really low spots, got it smooth as a babys butt at 320 grit with no low spots or scratches - what an ordeal

plus ya have to keep cleaning the @#$%^& gun all the time

took me an entire weekend to get to the point where i can lay down a test basecoat on a perfectly flat panel yes its my first time and hope with experience to do a panel alot quicker, took me quite a bit of primer and sandpaper to get the hang of it

glad i have time and lots of beer...no wonder they quoted me 5 K to paint my rig start to finish

      Been there

I used another form of general anesthetic when I painted My Bronco, came out real nice. Fire engine red with white half cab. Shadowed the Ford on the tailgate and did some cool pinstriping. I needed lots of pizza and and doritos too.

I put 60+ hours into my LAST rattlecan paint job..50 of that sanding. Not fun.

be careful, mods dont like it when you circumvent the Googly filter..that goes for everyone here..

A "pro" will loose money every time they have to spray primer. Primer is expensive and it takes a long time to dry, that's why they only spray it once.
Try perfecting your body filler spreading and sanding technique. Adding some polyester resin (fiberglass resin) to the last coat of body filler (Bondo) will thin it out and allow for a thin coat. 90% of your sanding should be done with 40-80 grit sandpaper.
