    Finished the flattie

Here's a couple pics of my flatbed project, finished for now. I did wind up changing my rear main seal and pan gasket, don't think I'll ever use the four piece pan set again, but no leaks. So I have basically replaced all the seals in the drivetrain.

I think she came out pretty good, and she's my driver now. Seems to get about 16 mpg, is that normal on the highway for the 258 and 4 spd? Its about what my old TJ got, and its a similar setup. so I figure i'm doing ok.

Great truck, and I get more comments on this than my 71 VW bus. Drives better too...

Nice truck. Not generally big on home brew flatbed conversions but that's cleanly done. I'd say you're in the ballpark for mpg's. My 258 Chero, man trans and 2.73 gears got 16-17 local and 18-19 hwy. A lot depends on state of tune and driving style.

Ha, I started this after I sold my JK to my son so I'd still have a jeep!

Think I'll keep this one for a good long time.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

                        Looks good.

Is that a matte silver or matte clearcoat? Or just really evenly faded?...either way, it looks good.
