    Help with Q-trac

I am working on rebuilding my t-case and the low reduction unit came apart after I took it off. Not a problem except that the is a spacer ring that should be next to the sun gear. The ring is open about 3/8's of an inch (broken?) and is now inside the sun gear. Don't know how this happened, but I don't think it should be there. Does anyone haven't any suggestions? Any help is hugely appreciated.

Here's the pics. If I am doing something wrong in sending them let me know.

Have you ever had the low range unit apart before? Apparently the snap ring goes onto the main shaft. Still don't know if it's supposed to be inside the sun gear. Anyway, you should be able to look at the picture and see where the snap ring is and the splines are. Any knowledge you can give me is greatly appreciated!
