I'm looking to get a kitchen pass and a solo flight. Not driving the trip takes a few days off of it and may make it feasible. My rig will not be ready for a cross country ride by then.

My cousin is in Rifle and has a CJ-7...maybe..just maybe..

Put in for vacation time for the invasion. No problem as of now. But where to stay? Tent camping is out as I need electrical power. I would also need a tent.

So, what are some of the good motels in town?

I ain't giving up. I've worked hard, it took me years to work my way to the bottom.

I was thinking of a police escort. He drives a patrol car to work.

But yeah, Grand Junction is where I'm looking into.

Actually the cop arrived after he got there. I think he was following the trail Sean had left.

It's an informal, unofficial gathering of some of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet in one of the most beautiful places on earth. At least that's my take on it from the one time I attended (2008). You can read about my trip here:
I was going to put this in the Ouray Invasion section, but I'd rather put it here. The Invasion was the catalyst for this trip, but it ended up being so much more. After seeing the photos and reading the stories from Ouray ever since 2002, I've always told myself "MAN, I've got to get out there one of these years".

Basically it's a small group that camps together for a few days, spending the evenings around campfires and the days exploring the many mountain roads of the area. I went out with my Stock Stock Stock '91 Final Edition and had a great time, although I didn't get to see that many trails, and basically kept to some of the tamer ones. Most of what I saw looked like this:

I did tag along on one trail ride that pushed the envelope as far as what I was comfortable doing in my "pretty Jeep". I banged the frame on the rocks a couple times, and drug the trailer hitch a bit, but I came through without a scratch on the body. My Jeep didn't have any problems with the altitude, other than having very little power.

I had to get "spotted" in a couple tight spots:

I'm planning on attending again in 2010, but hopefully with a J-truck that I'm not so concerned about, body-wise. But if my truck's not ready by then, I may come back with my '91 again.

                              Hope to see you there!
