Not to much to report I did get another intercooler from a second gen Cummins. I am removing a few rows from it to make it easier to instal in the front clip. I am also doing the inlet and outlet relocation like resbum did with his. In order to do all of this I have spent a lot of time fixing our tig welder. The cab has not had any work done to it due to an incredible amount of overtime. Happy new year everyone.

I decided to get the cab back to my shop so it can go under the knife for all of the alterations I need to make. The original plan was to do this after it had seen a coat of primer to protect all that bare metal, however the cold weather and overtime have not been on my side this winter to see that happen.

It has been awhile since any of us have welded aluminum, but they will definatly hold.

I made a mount for the hydro boost that uses the stock lever and mounting points- here it is mocked up

The next step is to weld up all the pieces for the twin stick and chop the floor pan a bit. Then I will see what can be done with the heater core vs. the down pipe. Man its great to be working on this again, I really did miss it.

I got the twin stick fabricated, and I am currently on a mission to get the heater box mounted in the firewall without hitting the down pipe from the turbo.... if I succeed I will show how it was done. If not, we will never speak of this again while I buy an under dash unit.....

Ive always found craftsman wrenches are good to cut apart... heck, Ive hacked at them to make them fit in tight spots and gotten them to replace it for me, lol.

Nice!!! It's now got me thinking of what I could use for levers.

Thanks guys, another option i will be using on my CJ is a couple of huge nuts (get your mind out of the gutter) like 2 or 3 inch thread. Here are a couple pics of the thinnest heater box you will ever see in the works. I know it will fit with all the stock mounting holes after i do some trimming and get it an inch or so closer to the blower, I just need to get some more thin cardboard to make the next template for the back cover and up to the firewall.

I also scored a huge pile of various gauge wire

Nice heater mod. I hope it works for you. Have you looked at turning the core around so that the inlet and outlet are facing the engine heater plumbing? From the angle of the pictures it looks possible.

Yes, I will be turning it around to face the motor its just backwards now to bolt down so it doesnt fall out while i am designing. Thanks though

                              The heater box looks good!

I'm thinking about doing the same and started making a cardboard template, but have time before I finish it.

One question as I'm not a heater expert, buut its also not that compliacted. The blower motor has a small exit hole to blow the air. Does it matter if the heater core is right next to the blower and most of the air flows through the center? Or should the core be an inch or so away from the blower so the air expands more and the force of the air hits the entire front of the core?

I may be over thinking this since the stock heater box had only those little rectangle areas to flow air when the blend door was open?

With the core water inlet outlet facing the engine it's going to be a really clean looking install.

Iceman, you're not overthinking it at all. You definitely want the air inlet back away from the core. It also wouldn't hurt to fabricate a little piece of sheetmetal into the air inlet that diverts some air towards the part of the core not in front of the air inlet.
