jeep was built by harold johnson at toledo jeep plant its a prototype without a vin when it was given to my grandpa as a gift at retirement he had it titled as built and vin says 001 jeep im sure never planned on it seeing the road and probably should have been destroyed but instead my granpa got it and the family drove it for years now it needs restored, my grandpa passed away but im sure there are records that can prove the validity of the truck without a way to establish its value ive not pusued it but i can tell you its real and was built by jeep and my wife and i plan on having it restored to exact factory condition show quality.

You definitely found a unique one.
I will be watching for more pics. Go ahead and start yourself a Photobucket.com account. it will save you lots of headaches in the future. VERY easy to work with and gobs of free storage.

Best guess, is he used a 2 door NT (narrow trac) cherokee as the base for the cab, likley used the same interior and seats (flip forward Cherokee style) to allow access to the rear, frame is likely from the Cherokee back ~1.5' from the rear cross member then J-truck rear grafted in.
Rear bulk head is a mystery, likely 90% J-truck and 10% custom to fit the roof line.
                        What engine did he use?
A few shots of the interior would give us an idea if he started with a base Cherokee of one of the more optioned rigs (but with access to the parts bin, it could be anything)

That is interesting. Maybe they were trying to figure out if they could do what ford did.
