    Mag Wheels, nasty to decent!

Tons of road grime and I've never touched them... Spent half an hour today on this one, fine sand flapper wheel then some turtle wax chrome polish (equivalent to 8000 grit slime), turned out decent, doesn't look like chrome but pretty nice and big improvement!

Matt, have you tried those powerball things? Harbor Freight has a knockoff powerball to go on the end of your drill. The real powerballs are expensive, but those work ok.

Ya I used the powerball thingy along with a cotton polishing wheel. I thought the cotton wheel along with some rubbing compound would work well but it did nothing! At least not very fast!

Try cleaning it with some zep 505 cleaner first. It is shocking how well it works. I get it at the Home Depot.

Flap wheels are pretty aggressive, and it looks like it did a lot of damage to the surface. If you want to go back and clean it up you'll be in for some hard time with progressively finer paper before you go after it with any compound.

High quality junk here: intro thread and slow build thread

Did you know? Willys is just Willis spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Neither Willy nor his apostrophe are involved.

Pic makes it look worse than it is actually, they are not damaged, I used a very very fine flap with no force and slow speed.... Took this pic before I finished up too...

I have the same wheels and used the Mother's powerballs & their metal polish.

Mine looked as bad as yours and after several hours with the cordless drill and a pile of towels for removing the polish, they absolutely shine like a mirror.

IMHO, it was well worth the time and $$ to get that result.
