New FSJ owner. CL find: 69 Gladiator with Service Box - More Pics added

Well, hello everyone, I've been looking for a FSJ for years and its only been the last few weeks that I've seriously started looking thanks to my best friend giving me the bug again, (Maxrad) and then, shazam, this just dropped in my lap and could not pass it up.

1969 Gladiator that came as a Cab and Chassis, J-4000, Buick 350/TH400. Previous owner ran an independant Mercedes shop (hence the Mercedes emblems ) and had the service box put on it when new.

Jeep was a California vehicle until the last 10 years when was brought to Washington State by PO's son.. Its been stored for the last 5 years and now its mine.

Story is at some point the rear locked up and broke an axle, so it was replaced and converted to 6-lug and the front had disk brakes installed also 6-lug. Have no idea yet what any of its from, but I'm guessing later J-Truckm but owner says chevy.

Truck is clean, rust free, and runs like a charm. Interior is great, floors are original and solid and it has about 78K on the clock. Has a homemade bumper with winch as well.

So now I'll share the pics, and let you look and see what you think. Not Dial-up friendly pics

Oh, and BTW..... I paid ........ wait for it..... $400 for her I think that was.... Ahem .... reasonable.

Also would like to hear from any other owners with service boxes.

No that pic is at the previous owners house. I'm an EMS Helicopter Pilot. I live in Washington, but work in Oklahoma. And I'm on hitch right now, can't wait to get home to the Jeep. I literaly bought her on sight the day before I headed to work, and have yet to bring her home. I get to do that next week.

Welcome to the land of empty pockets and unfinished projects...

WOW, thats been very well kept. nice find.
You asked for more pics, well, heres my '75 J-20 that I put a service bed onto. Not factory, but very usefull. The second pic is my '75 wrecker bought and served in Mesa Az. I bought it for $200 with no running gear.

Over the years, I wonder how many people thought the thing was made my Mercedes.

Great buy. Everybody likes the Buick 350 trucks. More modern Jeep axles and brakes are a great upgrade for those years. Does it have power steering?
