You need to check with your state motor vehicle department on the correct procedure, they may have you get a new title as a salvage and issue a new vin.

Don't over drill the hole, after drilling use...

Don't over drill the hole, after drilling use some touch up paint for the area and I use some red lock-tite on the outside of the nut to help hold it in. I then use anti-seize on the bolt going in.

not that big of a deal if the truck is what you wanted, in fact you may be able to swap out parts with someone wanting to do the opposite and costs will be labor only.
