Assuming you are coming from a coil setup...the positive wire on your coil should be hot all times when key is on/cranking. Use that wire for your battery wire on HEI. you can also do a nifty relay...

I just decided to do the FSJ setup and i just got the custom mounting plates in by one of the other members. I will post pics when i get them on. I plan on using a FSJ switch to control the motors...

401 starter

Sooo 1 year into my build and i finally was able to turn the key and get the starter to crank. (long story) I "upgraded" to a mean green stater and when i turned the key it just spun, no engine...
