Bring a mechanical oil gauge to verify if it is in fact super high. It's wicked easy to unscrew the sender and screw in the mechanical gauge.

I use gaskacinch for the cork, rtv in the corners...

I use gaskacinch for the cork, rtv in the corners on the rubber.

Also metal valley gasket, RTV instead of rubber for the ends.

Not saying this is right, you'll read arguments in either direction,...

NP229 in 84 did not have the switch installed that controls that light, though there is definitely a spot for the bulb.

It might have something to do with the disco 44 in front?

I rebuilt my entire engine and dash harness, and did not come across the switch for that lamp.

Was definitely wondering that same thing and am now comfortable knowing it's powered solely by magic.

What are the rods in heads?

Just knocked the plugs out of my heads and am wondering what the metal rods behind them that are somewhat freestanding that run the length of the head are and what they do.

On one head they are not...

I'm a fan of my Weller portasol. It's butane so heats up quick, and don't have to deal with a cord when in weird spots. Just watch where you point it to prevent frying stuff you don't want to fry.

I didn't need to remove the dash, but did have to drop the AC (not remove it) - one of the bolts is almost impossible to reach with the AC in.

If you do use tape, don't put it on too thick as the sender grounds to the block & you'll need a thread or two to break through the tape.

Update: Pulled the cover off today and found...

Update:

Pulled the cover off today and found that when my engine was rebuilt, they neglected to install the oil slinger on the end of the crank. What would be the negative effects of not having it...

Should have good oil coating both.
It was sitting for a week & I wiped off the distributor gear


Damage looks like they tried eat...
