it idle the engine makes maximum vacuum, at wide open throttle it makes the minimum ( or none ) the gauge lets you know when to pull your foot out of the throttle. Less vacuum = lower mpg.

The second photo, shows the dodge crossmember tucked in behind the bottom of the back seat base. It fits so well it like it was meant to be.
