I would not suspect a blown head gasket.

As far as the dial indicator ask around the local parts store. I recommend one with a magnetic base not vise grips.

Okay well then that looks good. But. I would get a dial indicator and measure the lift on each rocker. You could have a worn cam lobe or collapsed lifter.

Back lash is actually tight at .05" but that's what it was before the new carrier install.

It's brand new and in the front so hopefully the clutches will be good for a while. Good tip on adding one...

My body mount was like that, I just cut the spring hanger portion off though.

It also tied into a cross member but I cut that off too. Don't worry I will put another one on just up the frame further.
