Idunno about yours but the cable sheath on mine is plastic. If the sheath is collapsing somewhere or maybe kinking you loose travel at the latch.

As I recall, mine's just a beeg piece of rubber. It's got molded in leather texture and phoneybaloney stitching.

Could be I'm wrong, haven't seen it in years. It's in a box somewhere.

Inside the motor assembly there's the plastic gear on the output shaft driven by worm on the motor shaft.

If you look at the BJ's pichers you can see the housing without the gear in place.
