Not sure if I understand the question fully? The cap is held down to the distributor by the 2 spring clips or some by screws, the cap location is by the notch lining up the cap to the distributor.

Ideally, a different trans with the overdrive in it and a lock up convertor and changing gears in the diff to 373 will make it more enjoyable to drive. Something I may get around to one day.
