The driveshaft does not know the rear is offset, an angle is an angle, it doesn't see it as two angles. If the driveshaft is phased correctly the U-joints can do their job, again it don't care as...

As long as nothing is hitting and it drives good I'd say you're good. As for the shackles, the shackles are in the front from factory. A shackle reversal isn't uncommon, it does help the ride a bit...

Shimming the front axle....???? For what, point the yolk up some to help U-joint angle? The steering (caster) will be messed up to the point of I wouldn't want to try and drive it.....

Get rid of them shocks, cheap stock replacements will help a lot. Leaf springs when doing their job slid against each other, removing friction there can make a big difference in ride compliance....

You are correct about taking some of the zinc out of Diesel engine oil, it still has a lot more than modern gas engine oil.. The new specialty oils available now to address this problem only proves...

5* or 8* firing it up won't really matter, the most important thing in the position you're in is that the engine fires up quickly to not wipe the lube off the new cam before it's running to lube...

That's how a carb choke works, as engine warms up the choke opens and at the same time backs off on the fast idle when ya tap accelerator. Really shouldn't use any type of lubricant on the linkages...

A Q-jet, good for you, best carb there is. I'd lean towards an intake issue over a timing issue. First thing I'd check is that the carb is tight, caution, overtightening is what kills most carbs....
