I've done it successfully, but had swapped in a passenger drop front axle. No clocking ring. Will need a custom driveshaft, the double-cardigan will not fit - go with a single joint on both sides.

Thanks for all of the advice and opinions. I'm going to start by extending the neck with some radiator hose and adding a power steering cooler. Don't have all the $$ for the pump setup yet.

Have hydro-assist system (1.5" x 8" ram) on the '88, but the power steering pump just isn't cutting it with the welded front end. The reservoir pukes fluid frequently and I'm still having to muscle...

I use Toyota 6 lug 2" spacers all around. Been using for 7-8 years now, never had a problem. Bought off eBay for $30/per.

You will need 2 cables. They go from the drum to the frame, where the middle cable hooks up. I bought mine from AutoZone ..80's J10 I believe. I will call and see if I can find the part number...

I dealt with SOA and stock springs for years....

I dealt with SOA and stock springs for years. Would have to change them out every year or so because they would get a negative arch. To me, changing them out was more cost efficient than dropping...

Well, the air injection system on the passenger side is MIA; plugged up with bolts. Apparently it's been like this for years, cause I didn't do it! We'll see what happens!
