I bought a pair of the Chinese made ones a while back. The drivers side broke in a year. I bought a pair from BJ's about 10 years ago and they are still going strong.

Just remember to stitch weld with sheet metal. Don't try to make a continuous bead. It will warp and you will probably blow through it.

I like the old school idea, like a 57 Chevy. It might even help with the angle on the filler tube that caused us so much trouble at fill up. Especially with the newer anti-pollution nozzles.

If I could afford it I would prefer stainless steel, but aluminum is just as rust proof and corrosion resistant. So if it costs less I would go with aluminum.

Mine makes a clunking noise also. It took me a while to figure out it was the front springs shifting at the front shackles. They probably need to be tightened but I just haven't gotten to it yet.
