May have not stated one thing clearly....the tstat(being a smaller orifice) tends to slow the flow through the radiator to where the time spent there,,,exchanges more heat than just screaming through...

Pretty fundamental....too much tension on the discs=spinning wheel. I would suggest a massive burnout while turning may loosen things up.
