You can pick up a stethoscope at the local parts...

You can pick up a stethoscope at the local parts store pretty cheap and they work pretty darn good for isolating noises. You can also use a dowel or a piece of rubber hose, but the stethoscope works...

I've had my wag for 17 years and put almost 200K on in, it's never had a washer there and never leaked. That's one of the only places the motor ISN'T bleeding oil:p
