you have to managed to roll the tailgate glass down to pull the window channel lifter clips off... 2 of them, the reinstallation of those clips are a bear... usually even the shops will drill holes...

about 20 years ago I cracked the timing cover on the 74, too big of a hammer to drive the cranshaft seal ... cleaned the area and put a bead of black silicone to cover both side of the crack... still...

My numbers w manifold timing

On the 86 with the new cam


at idle set initial timing at 16 with vacuum disconnected (idle was a bit high in neutral at 900ish)



when vacuum is reconnected timing is about 45 at idle

no need to pull the gas tank on the 74 and 75 FSJ because the rear springs are installed differently, it is the post set up, not the box style.


Use plenty of pb blaster to remove rust or caked dirt
