Pose to be a number on the face of the gear that's the dimension from the ring center. There's a tool for this that I thought I saw for $100ish in a Jegs or Summit catalog. Much more for a big name...

Pretty sure I saw the pinion set up tool set in a Summit or maybe Jegs catalog...
