I would double check the timing, I'm pretty sure mine changed when converting to the TFI cap and rotor, so I had to readjust it.
Not sure on your Holley, but on the stock Motorcraft carb a blown...

I've tried all kinds of expensive polishes and what not, and never had much luck. Might have to do some kind of power buffing, I think that's the next option, albeit I haven't tried it myself.
