Thanks blair, and at first i did have the exact problem you stated. I turned the heims so the jammed against the arm so that they cannot twist around when the draglink pushes/pulls on it.

Unbelievable. I have been fighting a leaking trans pan since day one on this thing. Bought gasket after gasket, took care not to overtighten anything and not warp the pan. Even bought the $20 o ring gasket from the dealer and lost 4 quarts by the next morning!

Now this is all leading up to one thing, a new pan. Well, i put it in a new pan yesterday and even busted out the torque wrench just to make sure. Lo and behold, this whole time i dont think ive been tightening it down enough!! 12.5 ft-lbs is more than i thought! And guess what, NO LEAKS!! This has been the best week of my life, no doubt. Passed with all A's and passed the FE exam. Cloud freaking nine right now. I should go buy a lotto ticket :D

Thats awesome! Only so many "red showers" that one man can take before he gets really frustrated with changing tranny pan gaskets....

only thing i might suggest... take one more bar from where the triangulation meets on the back support legs and run it down to the outer corners on your bed... it will make everything much much stronger...

Not quite following you here...there is a support where the hoop ties into the bed. Goes under the hoop to the frame

gotmike 12-20-2009 11:05 AM

that way if you do roll over and hit something more on that back brace it won't bend and try to pull the main hoop away from the cab... it just offers an extra bit of support on those back corners

j20brett 12-20-2009 11:23 PM

Ah see it now. I didnt end up putting a bend in the top how i have it shown though. They are straight.

Sweet! Good to hear man. 12.5 ft pounds isn't much. That's crazy. At least it quit leaking. And big congrats on passing the FE exam! That test is a tough mfr.

j20brett 12-30-2009 10:30 AM

Well, its leaking. F it. Its just gonna have to leak. So tired of it. Anyways, more progress

That oughtta hold right?

jeeping1974 12-30-2009 10:43 AM

If it doesn't, it will let you know. It looks good enough though. Is this the rear 60?

janie 01-13-2010 10:43 AM

Brett,

Leaks are about mandatory aren't they......?;)

Don't be so hard on yourself. You've gotten alot accomplished and the truck is freakin sweet.

j20brett 01-18-2010 08:45 AM

Well, thats not supposed to happen! But when you wedge your tire into a rock and try to winch forward while giving it gas, somethings gotta give lol. O well, time to upgrade :D

jeeping1974 01-18-2010 11:19 AM

Just duct tape it and run it!

yoslvr442 01-18-2010 11:20 AM
