Need some help with paint questions on my '76

    Hi,

I'm getting the bodywork done om my 76' Cherokee. Since the Jeep is being brought down to bare steel, engine removed, etc. I figured why not change the color to the one I have always wanted. The factory color is yellow/white but I really like the blue/white combo as shown below.

Does anyone know who's Jeep this is or if the blue is factory?

Does anyone know where I can get some info on where the factory line is dividing the top color? The pics don't really give me a good idea on how the back is lined.

    My original color:

The blue I REALLY want - can't figure out if it's brilliant blue, renegade blue, medium blue or who knows what ...

Color pallet I found that is supposedly correct for a 76' Cherokee:

Yeah, that rig was on here a few years ago, for sale. I don't think it's an original Jeep/AMC blue. I am pretty sure it's Dodge B5 blue. Ghimini on here used it, too.

Rather than posting random updates every now and again I figured I'd just start a build thread for the new Cherokee project. Basically it's a 1983 Cherokee WT body on a shortened 1971 C10 frame with a real healthy AMC 401. Here's how I picture it as a finished project, although I change my mind on the paint scheme almost daily

I would not be too quick to rule out a factory color. There was a different blue metallic ofered by Jeep in 1974, '75 and '76. In '74 it was Jetset Blue Poly (very popular), and in '75 and '76 it was Medium Blue Poly, but each of those years have a different formula.

If I weren't trying to match a specific OEM color, I'd just pick the Kirker paint that comes closest to the blue I want http://dadscustoms.com/autobody_supp...at-gallon.html Good paint, and much less expensive than matching an OEM color.

AutoBodyToolmart will send you a Kirker color sheet at no charge https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/kir...s-p-12659.aspx If you wanted a lighter metallic blue, you could buy a quart of silver and lighten any of the blue colors to what you want.
