My 79 Cherokee Budget CTD build aka. Flagstaff

well here is my build i purchased my 79 Cherokee in Flagstaff, Arizona from the previous owners at Vintage Salvage, they were very nice people and easy to deal with. after some negotiation i was able to get it for a little less than the asking price $650.

I used www.uship.com to find a shipper who could get it to Kansas for the best price, as luck would have it i found a Shipper we made the deal and it arrived here on the November 23rd here are some photos.

the above pic was taken after it was running. took about an hour and only has reverse.. the pics below are from fLagstaff

looks like a solid start.  Congrats. whats the plan for it?

Ristow 01-09-2011 04:42 PM

looks good. ditch the wheels.

Eugene 1 01-09-2011 04:46 PM

The plan right now is to get it running and driving well. Ive already started making mods to it weather permitting it still needs a cleaning and so on, i installed a used 79 grill to replace the busted one seen in the pics im also working on a Cooling fan setup and the transmission issue which will be resolved soon! more pics:

Thanks Baybilly ! and Mike i thought you would like those lol they will be on for a while until i find something better lol.

also I used that Rockauto.com they dohave a lot of 79 cherokee stuff here is what i got from them.

2 battery cables Standard brand
2 front brakehoses Bendix
1 Acdelco Transfilter and gasket set

All quality stuff and shipped to me 54.00 bucks!! autozone and Oriellys wanted 23 dollars per brake hose Alone!

Thanks Seamus it is better to start with less rust when you can, but this one needs a floor board oneside

Ristow 01-09-2011 04:59 PM

why not that razor i see in the back?

Eugene 1 01-09-2011 05:03 PM

Iam keeping track of what i spend on "Flagstaff" to get it running so far including shipping iam up to $1,275

I've always liked that color combo on the cherokee chiefs, it reminds me of french vanilla icecream mmm. That was a steal for what you got it for It looks nice.

it is in progress too the car is torn apart and long way off but its getting there and it will be going to the body shop this Spring im hoping. while i rebuild the suspension, interior, etc the nose is needing some fiberglassing and so on i have no pics of the car together because the car started out as 70 Charger.. there is no such thing as a 70 Daytona it was one year only thing 1969 which is what the car will like when it is done

I didnt want to take up space so i just posted the links, but this was last winter it has gone through some changes since

mweath1 01-14-2011 07:25 PM
