    Stock Hitch

I think the hitch on my 79 cherokee chief is stock. I wanted to know if it could hold a dirtbike (250lb) and the rack that weighs about 60lbs. I do not want it to fall off on the highway. The bike sits about about 2.5ft from the hitch. Thanks for any help.

    Yep, should do no problem.

A class 3 receiver should have a tongue weight of 500 or so lbs.

Just go ahead and try it.

If it doesn't hold it you will always think that it should have.

One problem you might have is the carrier for the bike swaying side to side. However they do make a mechanism to hold it still.

Thanks for the help. I used this rack on the back of a 4-runner. The rack used to drag over the smallest dips, finally now I wont have that problem, also going from a slow 3.0L to a nice 5.9L is going to be great.
