I'm back with a doozie. Upon changing the oil pan gasket I noticed some tubes running into the front differential. Well they were'nt quite into, it was more like rusted off. There was this kinda egr looking thingy that they connected to and there were these other thin metal lines also. So, let me guess I HAVE NO 4-WHEEL DRIVE. My question would be: How do I go about fixin this before winter and will it cost much? What about junk yards? I don't even know if the front axle is functional(meaning w/fluid).
I gotta get a freakin manual!!!
Thanks for letting me vent

P.S. What kind of person lets a classic like this, go like this.

That's the vacuum actuator motor that engages your front axle(1983-84 only). Get all the lines hooked back up and it should work. Also check "all" your vacuum lines between the switch/axle/x-case along with any others at the vacuum reservoir etc. If no leaks it should work. If not take Fullmetal up on his offer for the new actuator motor..

chances are the metal vacuum lines under the exhaust manifold are rotted. 5$ worth of vacuum hose will replace it,and 4wd will come back smile.gif

are you sure? theres a detachable cover, iirc. and there should be 3 nipples for the vac lines. that actuator locks a gear in the diff and the cover aka pumpkin has to be removed withit. if it works dont fix it!

Dude, The thing that the three vacuum lines attach to on the differential housing is rusted to hell. Now I'm not talking the piece, but the three nipples are rusted and one of them is broken off in the vacuum line.
Is that what you're talking about?

Heavyjp, seems to be some confusion(at least on my end) on what we're really talking about here so I emailed you a pic of the axle vac motor. Is that what you mean?
