I am about to get my diff's welded. What do I need to remove? Does the ring gear come out too or can I get the carrier out without messing up the balancing???

weld it while its in. You dont gota pull it to wled the dif. You just wled the spider gears to the side gears. But yes you can pull the carrier without messing anything up. There is no palancing, just shims. And the shims are on the inside of the bearings.

Thanks Stuka, I searched the data base and found a link that showed the in truck method. Do you recommend using a bolt to fill in the gap of the gears of just weld it as is?
Also, I have locking hubs, can I run in 4x4 with a hub unocked if need be without messing anything up?

your welding the front dif? if so, then yes you can leave one hub unlocked and have 1wd up front. It will act funny, it will want to pull to one side sorta. But it will work. Is your rear dif already locked? That would be what i would lock first (I did lock that first actually)

As for the welding part just make sure you have lots of material there. Dont skimp on how much of the stick you use. And of course be sure to weld both side of it (weld one side, then rotate the carrier and doo the other side)

Yeah, I was planning on doing both the front and rear at the same time, while I had the nerve!! I was just a little worried about the front's manners in 4x. But if I can unlock a hub, no worries!!! I'm getting ready for tellico!! It will be my first rear off road trip in The Donzi!

Darn straight!!! Hehe. Donzi, when you weld those bad boys don't just weld the spiders to each other. Make sure you weld the spiders to the sides of the carrier as well. This makes everything much stronger overall.

Did my rear diff tonight. All this talk about it got me fired up.
It's mostly going to be a hunting rig so I won't worry too much if I mess it up or turning. I'll probably do the front next week.

IRBOB's website shows it very well. Here is the link: IRBOB's web page (http://fsjeep.homestead.com/Miller_Locker.html)

your going to do a soa and 3" body lift after already having 4" lift springs? Thats kinda high for doing any sorta off-camber stuff...
