this is like a mile from my house..just noticed it a year ago. finally stopped in..asked what they were doing with it (nothin..been sittin for years) and if I could check it out...
Yes it's a z-code 1978 401 folks  Body is too shot to save but its all there in the engine bay, dirty but complete. PERFECT black interior, fullly loaded dash and all interior panels look niice. Gana stop by again soon and catch the owner and see if I can clean up the yard of that rotting carcass ;)

You rock and suck at the same time. All I find near my house is weeds and smart @ssed kids! :D Good luck with the purchase...or gift if he turns out to be one of those- "its free as long as you get it out of here" types.

You're a saint I tell ya, a saint.
Ask 'em what's up with the Body Glove sticker. Maybe water skiers use surfer wet suits? Colorado is a long way from the ocean.

lol I was hoping to find a T18 or Th400/d20 combo sitting up there, but its the usual th400/qt combo.
Doors and tailgate look salvagable..all the WT flares front and rear are rotted.
I could have this thing stripped in a few hours..hmm..♦

Should you get it and decide to part it out I'd be real interested in the trim piece off the front of the hood.

Happy with a 401? NO! Possibly a free one at that? NO! You probably wouldn't bend over to pick up a $100 bill off the ground either.

Ahem....I'll be among the first of the vultures to come swooping down, but if you're keeping the 401 and parting the rest, I sure would be interested in those door mirrors!!

Mike, the interior is mainly what I want. And the dash..the one I'd swap out though isn't that bad unless you're really looking for AA mint like this one is.
Seventynine the seats are shot.
And I didnt show side pics for a reason. It's rottedout bad, has a Kansas dealer tag on it so it musta picked up some cancer out there and brought it back here. Just the doors and tailgate are any good.
On behalf of all of us I wish to express our thanks to you for cleaning up the environment and ridding the planet of evil trash.

gee I still need to make the NT D44's I dragged home LAST summer dissapear...and the z-code wag body that's sitting on them...sucks having plenty of big parts and living too far away from anyone that needs em..

Yeah, I am going to be needing a pretty tasty black dash, when I get digging into my 79 Cherokee.

well......
I've missed the owner 3 times, BUT..his son in law said he was happy to talk about getting rid of it quote "yeeah it's been there for years, but has a great motor!". So that's a big relief...now to find out if he thinks its dipped in gold or covered in mold ;) (the latter obviously). Wish me luck!

Bummer..finally caught the old man at home (93 years old!!!) and despite a great conversation, his wife said they wanted to keep it for now for one of the boys. So let him know I'd be interested if nothing gets done with it. He knew full well the motor was awesome kept braggin about it. So let's hope it falls in my lap this summer, eh?
It's a shame because I know the Cherk is only good for parts, the body is too far gone for much else than a fullly trimmed and hacked wheeler, but it had a slew of other parts plus the motor that would be a killer score. Oh well, that's the way it goes..

So did you offer them one of your carcasses to use for the rebuild? You should at least try to clean your yard and help a future member out.
Me, me, me... Sheesh...:D
