I'm still trying to figure out why my truck runs so bad when its cold. As I posted before, the truck starts right up and idles fine, but under load it acts up. This goes on for 20 or so min. Well after its fully warmed up. I also found that after the truck had been runing for 15 or so min, the choke was still on.
The PO had rigged something up with the bimetalic strip on the automatic choke. There is a wire spliced onto it from that goes to the fusebox and into the female spade slot marked radio. I guess he figured the slot was hot anytime the car was "on", so it was a good spot.
My question is; Is the bimetalic spring on the choke supposed to recive 12Volts whenever the truck is running? I'm thinking that the wire may have a break in it or a bad connection, and the bimetalic spring isn't getting 12volts, thats causing it to take up to 20 min from the time I start it for the spring to heat up soley from heat comming through the metal tube.
I should also mention that if its above 50 or so degrees, the truck starts and runs fine with no incident.
Thanks in advance.
