I usually run @32psi in my tires for street driving. You should have a DANA 44 rear axle unless it's been swapped out.

RLSHC,
Might help to know what brand/type of tires you are running. Big difference in recommended air pressures from radials to bias-ply, etc. I run my 33x9.5 BFG ATs at 35psi and get a good ride.

they are an off brand AT tire. pretty agressive. i put new heavy duty leaf springs on last year. i currently have about 28lbs in them. rides pretty hard.

That hard ride would be from the hd springs, not the tires. I have 8 leaf hd springs on the front of my J4000 and they're finally softening up after 5 yrs. I wouldn't go any lower than you are now on the air pressure.

I run my 32x11.50 BFG AT's at 26 front and 22 in the rear. They wear nice and even all the way accross the tread. Maybe this is wrong but I have run my tires in my 4x's for years this way and never had a prob. I run 70-75 on the Highway and have never had any trouble. I get around 45,000 out of them.

but in the 79 q-trac keep the tires all the same psi or you will eat the t-case up.
